For those who didn’t get a chance to visit the Fine Foods show in September, you missed a great opportunity. But don’t worry because all is not lost as PMQ’s Pizza Australia was there for you. In this issue you will be able to read about many of the new products we found in our show coverage. In addition, you will learn who was crowned the 2009 Best of the Best pizza maker in Australia. It is damon De Ruiter, who is also featured as our cover story for this issue. While talking to the industry professionals at the show the general consensus is that Australia’s restaurant and hospitality industry has weathered the storm from the past year and appears to be growing economically and bouncing back better than initially thought. Many suppliers report that sales are once again climbing and customers are starting to return to normal dining habits…welcomed news for our industry.

As a side note, PMQ’s Pizza Australia would like to make a slight modification to our Product Showcase format. We have several of these in each issue and use this as a way for new and select advertisers to discuss their products and companies without utilizing all of their advertising space. We feel this allows you, the readers, to learn more without having to spend a lot of time researching. It has come to our attention that it may appear that Product Showcases are endorsements by PMQ when in fact they are considered advertorial. We apologise if this is the way it appeared and now display Product Showcases as advertorial with proper labeling.
