Domino's Profit Jumps 75%
Domino's Pizza Enterprises Ltd has lifted its full year guidance after a stellar result in the first half. The Australian owned and operated pizza chain booked a 75.8% jump in net profit in the six months to December 31 to $6.1 million as it opened 27 new stores. Total revenue dipped 2% to $115.8 million, mostly due to the sale of some stores that were fully owned by the company rather than franchised. Domino's now expects to beat last year's net profit of $9.1 million by at least 30%. In November, the company forecast earnings growth of between 25 and 30% for fiscal 2008.Domino's shares rose 12 cents, or 3.9%, to end at $3.22.The Brisbane-based company also expects to add 70 new stores to its network this year, an additional 10 stores over the previous estimate.

Beech Ovens: Stranger Than Fiction
Many requests have been made from clients and kitchen designers over the years to custom make certain items, incorporating traditional cooking vessels into bespoke works of culinary art. The incorporation of a full rotisserie in a wood-fired oven, the only tandoori manufactured and sold to India and even the largest stone hearth oven ever produced. Just another day at the office...until recently. After a short trip to Fiji recently the latest concept oven arrived at Beech Ovens, an oven that would be made in the shape of a horse shoe and to fit around a supporting pillar. This has driven the concept of "If you can conceptualise it, we can build it" to a whole new level!! (This excerpt comes from beech's email newsletter. You can subscribe by emailing James Garton at jamesg@beechovens.com.au or visiting their website.)
